Electrical Engineer – Thales Hengelo

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer who thrives on precision, complexity, and purpose? Join Thales Netherlands in Hengelo and contribute directly to a critical defence project supporting navies around the world.

As part of the Fire Control Systems unit, you’ll be working on a large-scale, temporary project involving the design and delivery of 80 custom-made electrical cabinets for integration into state-of-the-art naval ships. These cabinets are essential to our advanced fire control systems.

Your role

You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to design, prototype, and qualify electrical (sub)systems. Using an EPLAN-based workflow , you’ll create schematics, select components, and ensure all designs meet strict standards in areas such as EMC, testability, serviceability, and safety .

You’ll be involved in every stage of the engineering lifecycle – from concept through production and validation. You’ll collaborate closely with your Lead Engineer, help define requirements, and document your work according to industry and military standards. You will also contribute to improving the tools and processes we use daily.

What you bring

• A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar engineering role
• Solid experience with EPLAN (schematics and documentation)
• The ability to translate broad functional specs and international standards into robust technical designs
• Strong communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus
• A hands-on, collaborative mindset and a proactive working style
• The ability to balance quality with efficiency, delivering on time and within scope
