Your new role
Do you want to be the vital ingredient in helping achieve ofi’s aims for climate-positive, nature-positive and livelihoods-positive supply chains and operations and do you want to quickly see your thinking come to life in ofi supply chains and within ofi technologies?
As the ofi Sustainability Data Lead you will establish best practices in sustainability data modelling, methodology, metric / target setting, data collection, analysis, and reporting for environmental & social sustainability programs. You will play a lead role in a wide program of activities around simplification, unification and control of sustainability data currently being collected and going into technology platforms in ofi and ultimately being displayed to customers.
As the key decision maker on what data is collected moving forward and how it is analysed and displayed to ofi customers you will work closely with the product / tech lead and others who will help bring those data decisions to life across ofi technologies.
You will have the following responsibilities :
Lead the development of environmental and social sustainability metrics / targets, methodologies (including within calculation engines) and analysis for display.
Commission and guide research, data analysis, tech solutions, and mathematical / statistical modelling that makes use of ofi supply chain data.
Guide updating of complex data models.
Collaborate with ofi sustainability and tech / product colleagues to both coordinate and stage-gate the development of digital solutions and applications from a data, metrics and engines point-of-view. Identifying opportunities to avoid duplication of data collection.
Be the key sustainability metrics stakeholder and decision maker across tools relating to risk, GIS maps, farmer and field-levels surveys and processes, and publicly available tools. Ensure that opportunities and costs of going with any one sustainability model, system or methodology are systematically flagged to the relevant teams.
Stay ahead of trends / best practices in data collection, sampling and analytics, impact metrics and GIS, Theory of Change regarding sustainable agriculture, carbon footprinting, monitoring land use change, water use and assessing social impact.
About you
You are pragmatic, conscientious but with the ability to be decisive and you love to go deep into the data. You also have the following qualifications :
Master's or Ph.D. in a data science or sustainability specialism
A personal interest in sustainable agriculture and food systems
Minimum of 7 -10 years of experience in managing data science and quantitative analysis within a data-intensive environment.
Demonstrated ability to work with large volumes of complex data
Excellent understanding and ongoing learning of Data Science and Calculation Engines (e.g. Carbon, Living Income etc)
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proactive, pragmatic, solution-oriented and innovative mindset
Critical thinking skills, organisational skills, and the ability to design and manage programmes.
On-the-ground experience and a good understanding of agri-business models and success factors are highly desirable
