Interim Head of Operational Finance 100% – 9 months
Based in Amsterdam Office
We are seeking an Interim Head of Operational Finance for a period of 9 months. In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding financial integrity in our Country Programs and contributing to an optimal use of resources in support of OCA Operations. You will report to the Director of Finance and Business Operations, work in partnership with the Head of HQ Finance, and manage a team including the Field Finance unit, Field Accounting unit, and Project Funding unit.
The ideal starting date for this interim position is 01 August 2025 .
Main responsibilities
Advise the Director of Finance and the Operations Department on financial strategy, including budgets, forecasts, monthly results, and risk management.
Manage and develop finance teams —Field Advisory, Field Accounting, Project Funding—by setting clear objectives and fostering collaboration. Encourage participation in the Finance HQ structure review.
Ensure financial compliance and integrity through robust audit preparation, financial controls, and quality assurance of financial processes and documentation across all OCA operational locations.
Oversee treasury and contingency planning , ensuring sufficient and risk-aware resource allocation to country programmes and preparedness for emergency support.
Represent Operational Finance within OCA and externally, building key stakeholder relationships.
Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and technologies, ensuring alignment with institutional knowledge and cross-OC consistency.
Candidate profile
Relevant education in finance with demonstratable finance leadership experience.
Ability to articulate a strategic vision for the Finance department, with a focus on supporting the forthcoming Finance HQ structure review.
Due to the short-term interim nature of this role, we require previous MSF experience.
Fluency in English, written and verbal.

A challenging interim position on a 9-month basis.
A gross monthly salary between €5,922 and €8,153 a month depending on relevant work experience, based on a fulltime appointment
30 days off (based on a full-time employment)
