About the job

We are looking for an intern who will join our Carbon Development Team in Amsterdam starting from September 2025 , to support the design and certification of Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation carbon projects located in Brazil and Africa.

Responsibilities :

Your role will include :

Conducting research around different restoration projects (e.g., Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation, mangrove restoration), mostly located in Africa (e.g., Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda) and Brazil;

Supporting carbon project development and certification under Verra’s VCS and CCB Standards;

Writing academic reports and project documents such as Project Description Documents (PDDs);

Supporting the development of technical documents, like monitoring plans, planting designs, etc.

Mandatory qualifications :

To be eligible for the position, you must :

  • Be based in the Netherlands, with the possibility to commute to our office in Amsterdam for 2-3 days a week ;
  • Have completed (or be in the last year) of an environmental-related Master’s degree (e.g., Forest Engineering, Forest Conservation, Environmental Sciences);
  • Have a strong knowledge of forestry and planting designs or similar fields;
  • Be able to document methodological processes and write high-quality reports in an academic style;
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Have a strong interest in environment-related areas, especially in the restoration and conservation fields;
  • Be able to work both in a team and independently;
  • Show curiosity and analytical skills.

The following qualifications are a plus :

  • Previous experience in projects located in Africa and / or knowledge of regional context;
  • Previous experience with carbon certification;
  • Basic GIS or carbon modelling skills.
