We are looking for an Accounting Assistant on behalf of our global travel services provider that is currently expanding their team in Utrecht!
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Transactions & Record-Keeping
- Process accounts payable, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of invoices, payments, and transaction coding
- Ensure all transactions are supported by appropriate documentation and approvals, in line with internal policies and procedures.
Month-End & Year-End Close
Support the Chief Accountant and Senior Accountant from US HQ with month-end and year-end closing activitiesReview journal entries, accruals, and reconciliationsAssist in the review of financial statements and management reports prepared by third-party service providers to ensure accuracy and timelinessPrepare ad hoc reconciliations and assist in resolving any discrepancies.Compliance, Audit & Tax
Assist in compiling documentation for audits and tax filingsCoordinate with external accountants, auditors, and the Chief Accountant to provide relevant financial dataCollaborate with third-party service providers to support local tax filings and compliance in the Netherlands and other European jurisdictionsPayroll & Banking Support
Support payroll coordination to ensure accurate and timely salary paymentsReview and process employee expense claims, verifying receipts and approvalsLiaise with banking institutions and third-party vendors to ensure smooth processing of payments to suppliers and employees.Financial Analysis & Process Improvement
Analyze financial trends and provide actionable insights to support financial decision-makingContribute to budgeting and forecasting activities by providing relevant data and analysisAssist in enhancing accounting procedures and optimizing internal workflows for efficiency.Collaboration & Communication
Partner with cross-functional teams, including HR, Operations, and other Finance colleagues to ensure seamless financial processesMaintain strong communication with the Global Finance Team in Berkeley, the finance team in France, and third-party accounting providersCoordinate with the Dutch payroll team to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processesSupport ad-hoc financial projects, including reporting improvements and system implementations.Qualifications & Skills :
Able to work from the office at least 4 days a week (Wednesdays are working from home days)Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.1-3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software.Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of other European languages is a plus.Basic knowledge of international accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS, Dutch GAAP) is a plusHigh ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential financial information.What's on the offer :
