Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Customer Support Engineer to support our clients using GE Smallworld applications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, hands-on experience with Smallworld components, and a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues efficiently. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer support and system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide technical support for GE Smallworld suite of products, including PNI, Core SW4 / SW5, Electric Office (EO), Gas Office (GDO), GSS, GSA, GTO, DM, MES, NRM, and K8.

Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve customer issues efficiently using logs, debug files, and other diagnostic tools.

Collaborate with internal and external teams to address and resolve system issues.

Install and configure GE Smallworld products and third-party software (e.g., ONA, Data Center Management tools).

Apply operating system patches and software fixes in live production environments.

Participate in system upgrades and maintenance activities.

Interpret and analyze logs for proactive issue detection and resolution.

Create and maintain documentation for issue resolution, configuration settings, and best practices.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely updates on issue resolution and system performance.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience :

5+ years of experience with GE Smallworld applications including :

PNI, Core SW4 / SW5, EO, GDO, GTO, GSS, GSA, DM, MES, NRM, and K8.

Proficiency in Magik, Java , and VMDS .

Strong experience with Oracle Database , SQL , and shell scripting .

Expertise in reading / interpreting logs and debugging complex system issues.

Experience with installing software fixes and patches on live production systems.

Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming techniques .

Solid understanding of system administration practices.

Hands-on experience in installing and configuring GE Smallworld and 3rd party utilities.

Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Outlook .
