Our ORTEC Data Science & Consulting (DS&C) division has incredibly ambitious plans to improve the world [of our customers] using mathematics, data science and advanced analytics. Do you want to help realize those plans? And do you want to work as an Analytics Consultant in the Energy Industry? Then we are looking for you!

The energy transition as well as today’s needs for energy require energy companies to continue to invest in new solutions and facilities. This involves large construction designs and capital investments in LNG facilities, Blue Hydrogen facilities, offshore wind farms, etcetera. As these projects can be on the order of billions of euros, estimating their costs accurately is of great importance. Together with one of our energy clients, we have developed an application to help their estimators to derive these costs, by developing models for the various types of projects involved. As an Analytics Consultant – Energy you play an important role in improving and further developing this application.

Some profile characteristics of the consultant we are looking for are :

o Engaging with customers (a.o. engineers, estimators, project managers) to discuss their requirements and wishes;

o Ability to differentiate between high and less relevant factors for a model;

o Providing a concept high level model (in MS Excel) before actual implementation;

o Willingness to do the actual technical implementation of models

Who you are

• Educated with a University degree with a technical background (e.g. Energy / Mechanical / Civil Engineering, Physics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or other relevant studies)
• You recently graduated and are looking for your first job or already have experience and looking for a second or third step in your career
• Business experience is a pre (chemistry / physics)
• Currently living in the Netherlands and able to fluently communicate English (verbally and in writing).
• Able and willing to work in a team, at the location of the client, in our office and at home
• Experience in modelling or programming is an advantage
• Knowledge of Python or Excel is an advantage
• Strong listener and communicator and motivated by the clients’ vision, contact and interaction
• A puzzle solver with excellent analytical skills and eye for details
