We are looking for a Marketing & Communications Director who will spearhead the transformation of the Vlisco brand from a celebrated African icon to a dynamic global brand.

You play a crucial role in establishing a professional and effective marketing organization. In this role, you will report directly to the CCO. You will also closely collaborate with the Creative Director, Product Development, and regional teams in Afrika.

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic leader with proven expertise in (global / international) consumer brand management, particularly in premium brand environments, such as fashion. Key attributes include strong brand-building skills, creativity, and high cultural sensitivity.

The ultimate goal is to develop a cohesive brand strategy that seamlessly integrates existing and new business initiatives, elevating brand desirability and supporting Vlisco’s ambitious growth trajectory. In this role, hybrid working is an option.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Developing and executing relevant, consumer-driven marketing activities in varying channels and markets;
  • Formulating, developing, and implementing key channel marketing and marketing communication programs to support business revenue goals and Vlisco brand strategies;
  • Maintaining Vlisco's positioning as the leading print brand : developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the company's objectives. Ensuring a clear brand value proposition, visual identity, and coherent brand story across all channels;
  • Developing a single brand proposition : integrated brand strategy for current and new business;
  • Leading and developing the marketing team in the Netherlands to equip it for current and future business challenges, and leading the local marketing managers working in Vlisco's African offices. Setting goals and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence;
  • Collaborating with the Creative Director, the product team, and operational marketing in the Regions to align the brand strategy with overall business goals;
  • Enhancing brand awareness and desirability to drive recruitment of a new generation of consumers supported by highly effective communications plans; campaigns, content planning & creation, influencer marketing, and PR plans to be deployed online and offline;
  • Ensuring effective use of marketing resources across all channels with a 360 approach : leading the implementation of digital tools and finding solutions that support and enhance offline and traditional marketing activities;
  • Supporting and evolving the retail / eCommerce experience, visual merchandising, eCommerce marketing plan, and development tools to support retail operations;
  • Ensuring that marketing activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, including data protection and advertising standards.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing or equivalent;
  • 10+ years’ experience in an international business environment in fashion, textile, or luxury / premium consumer business;
  • Experience in rolling out both national and international marketing strategies with strong cultural sensitivity;
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French and Dutch is an advantage;
  • Good project management skills;
  • Good leadership skills;
  • Forward-thinking attitude, result-oriented, people and customer-focused;
  • Creative and imaginative;
  • Brand builder and digital-savvy;
  • Willingness to travel when needed.
