As Rotating Engineer, you perform all necessary engineering activities related to rotating equipment engineering and design. You Support / assist other Engineers with the performance of their assignments and take the lead in the work performed by vendors and supliers. You assist the Discipline Lead Engineer in the follow up and control of all deliverables, activities and reports of the discipline to achieve higher efficiency and consequently low cost, but without compromising on safety, quality and project requirements.

General Tasks

  • Is aware and cares for H ealth, S afety & E nvironmental aspects during daily actions, and drives HSE performance throughout project and or internal / external services activities.
  • All necessary engineering activities related to a variety of rotating equipment’s, such as pumps, fans, turbines, compressors etc.
  • Advise / support / assist other Rotating Equipment Engineers with the performance of their assignments.
  • Advise Department Manager Mechanical in maintaining rotating equipment engineering work instructions, specifications and standards.

Specific Tasks

  • Advise Process Engineers in selecting the most suitable rotating equipment for the specific process design.
  • Preliminary select rotating equipment items using Vendor’s selection software to enable other disciplines to perform the sizing and installation of the equipment.
  • Prepare Technical Specifications, Equipment Data Sheets, Requisitions and Technical Bid Tabulations.
  • Review Customer’s technical requirements and incorporate in project related data sheets and specifications.
  • Perform Vendor document review to check suitability of the design, including rotating equipment related Piping and Instrument Diagrams.
  • Evaluate deviations and / or alternative technical solutions proposed by Vendors.
  • Coordinate rotating equipment related issues with the other disciplines Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, Furnaces, Piping, Civil, Static Equipment, Procurement and Construction.
  • Provide technical assistance to the sales and estimating department in obtaining and evaluating Vendor quotations for proposals.
  • On request assist the QC department in performing inspections at Manufacturers shop.
  • Ensure adequate 2nd pair of eyes check is performed.
  • Incorporate lessons learned (Quality Deviation Lists, Quality Improvement Points).

    • Education and Experience :

  • BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 to 7 years in a similar function.
  • Knowledge of international standards related to rotating equipment, such as API 560, API 516, API 610, API 618, API 673, ASTM, ISO, Euronorm, PED.
  • Knowledge of requisition workflows.
  • Fluent in English, Dutch speaking / reading / writing is a big plus.
