Carrier Global Corporation is looking for a talented professional to join the finance and tax team in Rotterdam, NL to oversee and manage the direct income tax compliance processes for the EMEA regionworking in close collaboration with the outsourced global service provider and key stakeholders within the Carrier Finance and Carrier Tax organization.
The Direct Tax Compliance Manager EMEA will be accountable for overseeing accuracy and timely completion of all filings of Corporate Income Tax (“CIT”) returns in the EMEA region.
This individual will also support withholding tax compliance in the region to mitigate tax on cross-border payments subject to withholding.
Furthermore, we look for a resourceful Project Manager, able to find solutions to enhance tax compliance processes and control frameworks that will drive improved business accuracy and efficiency in direct tax and withholding tax compliance.
In addition, the individual will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at World Headquarters (“WHQ”)and within the businesses across the numerous tax jurisdictions in the region.
This is a sole contributor role with the prospect of future professional expansion within the organization.
Main responsibilities :
- Oversee and manage the Corporate Income Tax (“CIT”) return compliance delivery process
- Work with the global external direct tax service provider on constant process improvements for execution of a top-class direct tax compliance delivery system
- Lead the transitioning of the direct tax compliance delivery responsibility from the business finance organization to the tax organization, where applicable
- Coordinate the completion of any required tax compliance for entities divested from the Carrier group in compliance with Carrier’s requirements
- Develop the tax control framework and processes to drive accuracy and efficiency in the direct tax compliance delivery
- Liaise with the central finance organization to provide requisite data, documents, information for the preparation of the CIT returns
- Coordinate between the external service provider and internal contributors on issue resolution during the direct tax compliance delivery process
- Monitor and update compliance tracker tool
- Follow up with internal contributors to ensure timely responses to requests and completion of CIT returns filings
- Act as central point of contact for EMEA direct tax compliance
- Streamline withholding tax documentation processes including requesting and obtaining withholding tax documentation to reduce withholding tax on cross border payments made among our operating businesses
- Provide support in data collection in relation to tax accounting and reporting to the Global Tax Reporting team
- Provide support during routine audits in collaboration with the Global Tax Risk Management and Controversy team and internal contributors
- Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of the tax group, as well as other headquarter and business functions as appropriate and necessary in the performance of day-to-day work
- Manage relationships with outside advisors as required and help drive cost efficiencies
Minimum Requirements :
Education / Certifications :
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Project Management, taxation or other financial disciplineGraduate degree or other tax qualification, desired.Experience / Qualifications :
4-7 years' experience in either a direct tax compliance or tax reporting role, a statutory accounting role with some exposure and understanding of income tax, or a project management role in taxPrior experience with supporting a direct tax compliance centre in an in-house role or international accounting firm would be advantageousExposure to statutory accounting standards and / or tax laws in multiple jurisdictions in EMEAGood understanding of the direct tax compliance requirements and processes in EMEA and globallyExperience in working with numerous ERP systems (i.e., SAP, JDE, Oracle) is a plus pointFluency in English is mandatory (any other European language will be an asset)Occasional travel in the region may be requested (less than 5% per year)Enabling Competencies :
