For our client, active in the offshore oil&gas business, we are looking to recruit a (Sr) Cost Estimator (secondment to staff).

The job :

General for Cost Estimator :

  • Develop the Estimate Execution Plan and obtain approval from SH and TM.
  • Develop the estimate in the estimating tool in accordance with the agreed timing.
  • Verify, update and justify (commodity) pricing where required.
  • Liaise with Procurement and Contracts to obtain market pricing and remeasure the bids if required (Include final quantities).
  • Ensure checks and balances are carried out prior to delivery to TM. This includes the preparation / review of the Project Benchmark sheet.
  • Provide the agreed deliverables as stated in the estimate execution plan.
  • Develop the Basis of Estimate and obtain approval / consent from SH and TM.
  • Update the overall Estimating schedule on a regular basis.
  • Maintain Pricing models and periodically update Knowledgebase pricing
  • Maintain Benchmark database, using (actual) project cost data
  • Normalises and prepares (actual) project cost data for addition to the benchmark database.

Specific for Senior Cost Estimator :

  • Able to lead an estimating taskforce for complex or large projects / tenders.
  • Perform peer review (discipline check) on cost estimates
  • Participate in Constructability reviews and other Strategy meetings if required.
  • Participate in (qualitative) Risk assessments and advises on prudent contingency if required.
  • Is able to discuss / defend the outcome with both (senior) management and client.

    • Requested :

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the estimating profession in the oil and gas industry or EPC industry
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Technical education
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge and skills of Cleopatra or other dedicated cost estimating software
  • Strong skills with regards to data mining / management (Excel, Access, Power BI etc)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Currently living and working in The Netherlands.
