CATHODIC PROTECTION ENGINEER
Location : Schiedam, Netherlands

On behalf of our customers, we are currently recruiting for a Cathodic Protection Engineer to be placed in Schiedam and would be on a 12 months contract with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
- Ensure corrosion control by CP is engineered, and CP systems are procured, in line with the company Technical Standards, Industry Standards and CLIENT contracts, for SBM entire product line (i.e. FPSO, FSO, CALM Buoys, Turret Mooring Systems, Spread Mooring Systems, Floating Wind, Brownfield Projects).
- Contribute to the correct installation, commissioning and operation of CP systems so that they perform as intended throughout product lifecycle.
- Align with fellow material selection, welding / metallurgy, corrosion, coating and insulation colleagues so that corrosion protection strategy on a project is coherent overall and there are no discrepancies / gaps in the approach.
- Join RCFA, task force teams when relevant and requested.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities, monitor industry state of the art and evolutions, with regards to corrosion control by CP.
- Raise all opportunities within the organization relevant stakeholders (Technical Authorities, Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction / Installation, Operation).
- Share knowledge within the materials and corrosion protection team and awareness outside of the team, e.g. among supply chain, engineering management, construction, commissioning, operations and asset integrity.
- Provide specialist support for the selection and procurement of cathodic protection systems, services (e.g. simulations) in line with specifications and contracts.
- Assist and align with other ENG disciplines, construction, operations, asset integrity, technical authority groups, project teams on site (shipyards, fabrication yards) on all matters related to corrosion control via CP including effects of material combinations and presence / absence of protective coatings.
- Support Materials and Corrosion Discipline Manager with planning and budgeting of engineering activities related to corrosion control by CP (i.e. develop execution plans, schedules, man-hour budgets, Master Document Registers).
Tasks
Review, raise qualifications and clarifications on ITT documents from the company clients (Basis of Design, Specifications, Bulletins, etc.)Issue CP deliverables (design specifications, calculations, reports, simulation specifications and reports) within pre-FEED (proposals), FEED and EPCI phases of a project including Brownfield Projects.Review relevant documentation (drawings, specifications, calculations, reports) from vendors, shipyards and fabrication yards.Respond to technical queries and technical deviations from vendors, shipyards and fabrication yards.Support procurement process related to CP systems, pre-PO (i.e. RFQ preparation, bid review and technical appraisal) and post-PO (e.g. vendor document review, assistance for PO updates etc.)Participate in meetings, audits, workshops, design reviews, risk assessment sessions, root cause analysis where corrosion control by CP is involved.Skills / Qualifications
Five (5) to Ten (10) years’ experience in corrosion control by CP (ICCP and SACP) for products part of the company product line.Experience at shipyards / fabrication yards in Engineering Role is a plus.Proven experience with carrying out the tasks described in this Job Description.Experienced working in groups composed by high level stakeholders (CLIENTs, CLASSIFICATION SOCIETIES, Industry Standard Representatives).Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical / Metallurgy / Petroleum Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.CP and Corrosion Certification from corrosion and materials related professional association such as AMPP is highly preferable.Conversant with Leading International Standards and Guidelines regulating the design, installation and operation of CP systems (DNV, ISO).Familiar or even conversant with CLIENTs Technical Standards relevant to CP is a plus.Knowledge of the following is a plus :International Offshore Material Selection Standards such as ISO 21457 and Norsok M-001.
Materials failure mechanisms and common corrosion challenges on offshore assets.Coatings and linings systems for immersed environment (products, generic types, surface preparation and application requirements, limitations).Good level of English, both written and spokenThe next step
