Software Engineer / Backend Developer

We are a fast growing agtech scaleup with a team of 100+ employees worldwide, a comprehensive portfolio of software (web & mobile apps, cloud infra, APIs, AI models, etc) and hardware (IoT devices, sensors, etc) products, used by 10s of 1000s of farmers, agronomic advisors and enterprise customers worldwide.

We are looking for an extremely driven and talented Software Engineer / Backend Developer to join our development team based out of our Haren, Netherlands office . As a Backend Developer at CropX, you will help shape and develop a unique agtech platform that combines data services, IoT and agronomic AI in a modern tech stack. NOTE : This role is only open to Dutch residents with work authorization. No international applicants - applications will be immediately rejected. We do not offer relocation or visa sponsorship for this role. While this role is hybrid, candidates must be willing to travel and spend up to 60% of the time in our Haren office.

Your responsibilities will include

• Developing the core business logic, agronomic algorithms, data models, internal and external system integrations, services and APIs, that are modular, scalable, and high performance for a global customer base
• Being part of the complete agile product development cycle, from discovery, design, development to launch
• Owning the delivery of strategic projects and major features
• Collaborating with frontend, infrastructure, product, and QA teams
• Solving complex customer and technical challenges, with a strong focus on performance and data
• Building and improving our platform infrastructure and services
• Maintenance and continuous improvement of the existing products and tech infrastructure
• Working with our modern tech stack that consists of :
• Python and Java for our backend
• Angular, Swift and Kotlin for our web, iOS and Android apps
• SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL)
• AWS and GCP cloud environments
• Kubernetes, Jenkins, and other tools for CI / CD
• Selenium, PyTest, Cucumber and other tools for test automation
