Maersk E-Commerce Europe :

Maersk E-Commerce Europe delivers a seamless, end-to-end parcel service, integrating fulfillment, sorting, linehaul, customs clearance, returns, and a wide selection of carefully chosen last-mile carriers across all European markets. With every parcel shipped through Maersk, our customers benefit from the best combination of service level, transit time, and price, providing them with competitive access to every zip code in Europe through a single integration with us.

To support this exceptional value proposition, our last-mile carriers are crucial in ensuring that Maersk’s e-commerce product offers a comprehensive end-to-end parcel service. Our own linehaul network connects these carriers across Europe, while our Maersk-operated sorting facilities enhance transit times and service levels for our customers. We have built a carrier network across Europe, carefully selecting 1-3 carriers per country, totaling around 50 carriers across the region. Our product offering includes Home Delivery (with Returns) and (multi)-PUDO points (including PUDO Returns).

Position Overview :

As the Regional Head of Carrier Management for E-Commerce in Europe, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our e-commerce logistics strategy. Leading a talented team of four, you will be responsible for optimizing our carrier network and volume routings, ensuring that our customers enjoy seamless and efficient delivery experiences.

This role is at the heart of our operations, working closely with a diverse range of last-mile carriers to negotiate rates, terms, and conditions. You will collaborate with key departments such as Pricing and Product teams, Platform and Tech teams for carrier integrations, and other vendors and suppliers. As part of the Regional Maersk Ground Freight and E-Commerce (MGFE) leadership team, you will report directly to the Regional Head of MGFE.

We are looking for a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the e-commerce landscape, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to inspire and lead a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement a comprehensive carrier management strategy that aligns with Maersk’s e-commerce goals and objectives in Europe.
  • Carrier Relations : Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key carriers, ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and service levels.
  • Performance Management : Continuously monitor and analyze carrier performance, driving improvements to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Cost Optimization : Lead initiatives to optimize transportation costs while upholding the highest standards of service quality.
  • Team Leadership : Inspire, lead, and mentor a team of carrier management professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Partner with internal stakeholders, including operations, sales, and customer service teams, to ensure alignment and seamless execution of our operations.
  • Market Analysis : Stay ahead of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to inform decision-making and strategy development.

Qualifications :

  • Extensive experience in carrier management, logistics, or supply chain management, with a strong focus on e-commerce.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with carriers.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and performance improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of the European logistics and e-commerce landscape.
  • Ability to work effectively across different cultures and time zones, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
