GKN Fokker Elmo is a leading company in design, manufacturing and support of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) for Aerospace and Defense programs. Our tools and processes support our customer's in the development of EWIS.

GKN Fokker Elmo Engineering plays a major role in EWIS aircraft design and development projects, such as Airbus A220, A320NEO, A330NEO, Boeing 787, and numerous aircraft engine programs, such as the P&WC Geared TurboFan engine applications (A220, A320NEO, Irkut MC-21, Gulfstream G500 / 600, Dassault F6X, Embraer 170E2 / 190E2, etc.). New EWIS developments are rapidly coming up, with the focus on more sustainable and electrical solutions and the expected change in travel behavior. As Senior EWIS Functional Design Engineer you will be responsible for the execution of the functional design of electrical wiring interconnections, i.e. EWIS Functional Design. This involves analyzing design requirements, performing trade-off studies, making design choices and designing wire harnesses constructions and interconnections (From-To definitions), processing of aircraft systems data packages (files), writing technical reports and support continuous functional improvements of our Engineering tooling environment, through integration and concurrent engineering with international and multi-disciplinary teams and together with system suppliers and our customers.

The Senior Design Engineer will report to a Lead Engineer EFD, but will take guidance and direction on a day-to-day basis from a Senior Design Engineer or Work Package Manager within the applicable design and development project. Bachelor or Master in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering;
System design (components, constructions, schematics, wiring diagrams);
EWIS / Wiring harness functional design;
Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools;

Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio)

Design processes and methods / standards;

System safety analysis;

Integration aspects of design;

Design verification (reporting of deviations);

Wiring harness installation design (3D geometry);

takes initiative to help improve processes and procedures; Teamwork : Able to work constructively in a small team taking responsibility for assigned tasks and willing to support other team members in achieving team targets and deadlines;

Fluent English in speech and writing, ability to communicate clearly and concisely (including technical reports) with a reasonable amount of flair / forthcomingness
