Who we are looking for

We are looking for a motivated ESG Associate to join the Market & Credit Risk (“MCR”) business unit of Symbiotics Investments, in charge of assisting the team in the tasks related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risks assessment and monitoring of institutions, as well as positive impact reporting. Investees are mostly composed of financial institutions in emerging markets, but there is a growing number of corporate, project finance, asset-backed, trade or agri-focused, and structured finance transactions. The position is full-time (part-time could be envisaged) with reporting line to the E&S Impact Specialist. The position is based in our office in Amsterdam. Other locations where Symbiotics has a representative office could also be considered, as well as candidates located in the EU and providing services through a consultancy agreement.

In addition, you’ll also be supporting the Market & Credit Risk business unit upon necessity.

Responsibilities :

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and management of methodologies and processes related to (i) the environmental and social risks of investees, and to (ii) SDG allocation, green loans, sustainable bonds, and impact reporting.
  • Building and consolidating annual key performance indicators (KPIs) reports.
  • Provide support in training the front office specialists on ESG rating methodology and analysis.
  • Research on ESG & Impact industry best-practices, such as GHG emission calculations and GenderAct as main point of contact on the GHG emissions proxy tool (JIM); and RepRisk.
  • Assist the ESG Impact Specialist in preparation of the Client specific annual E&S reporting / impact reports.
  • In charge of SFDR related ESG reporting (PAIs); Development of a digital application for ESG assessment.
  • Project management : it will be required to participate in different kinds of ESG – related projects.

Requirements :

  • University degree or equivalent, preferably in a finance related field.
  • Strong interest in impact investments and in ESG issues. Some ESG related work experience (1-3 years) is an advantage.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
  • Capacity to handle ongoing multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Excellent sense of communication and organization.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Very good capacity to understand, adapt and dedicate to support clients’ needs.
  • Team player.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; Good command in French and / or Spanish is strongly valued.
  • Valid work permit for the selected location.
