As an Airfreight Operations Specialist within our 4PL Global Control Tower, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of air freight shipments for our global account, an agri-chemical manufacturer. Your expertise will be instrumental in quoting and nominating airfreight shipments, managing vendor performance, mitigating risks, and enhancing client satisfaction through operational excellence. By leveraging your in-depth knowledge of air freight regulations and industry best practices, you will contribute to the optimization of our supply chain operations and drive value for both our client and our organization.
The primary purpose of this role is to serve as a specialist for all air freight-related matters, providing expert guidance and support to our client, internal teams and external partners. By proactively managing vendor performance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing operational processes, the Airfreight Operations Specialist will contribute to the achievement of service level agreements, operational efficiency, and an optimal customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
As an Airfreight Operations Specialist you will be responsible for :
- Airfreight Quotation & Coordination : Coordinate the air freight rate quotation process, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client requirements. Sense-check rate requests before submission to third-party logistics providers (3PLs), leveraging expertise to identify viable air freight options.
- Supplier Relationship Management : Manage supplier performance, service levels, and continuous improvement initiatives. Foster collaborative partnerships with vendors to drive operational excellence and address performance issues promptly.
- Data Management : Manage data exchange and communication with the client on a daily basis, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of air freight activities and performance metrics.
- Regulatory Compliance : Stay abreast of IATA regulations, new CDG rules for scanning, and other industry regulations. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitate necessary certifications, such as known consignor status.
- HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) : Implement and uphold HSSE standards and protocols related to air freight operations, together with the 3PLs.
- Product Launch Support : Provide logistical support for product launches, including transportation planning, route optimization, and coordination of air freight activities.
- Operational Excellence : Act as a subject matter expert for airfreight operations, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external partners. But also to various customer sites on packaging and labeling requirements.
- Operational Escalations : Provide operational support and guidance to customer experience teams to resolve escalated issues related to airfreight shipments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution and minimize disruptions.
- Continues Improvement : Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize air freight processes.
- Charter Handling (incidentally) : Manage charter flights and specialized air freight services, coordinating logistics and ensuring smooth execution of charter operations.
Who we are looking for
Minimum of 5 years of experience in air freight operations, with a strong understanding of industry regulations and best practices.Proven track record of managing vendor relationships and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering results and driving operational excellence.Knowledge of IATA regulations, HSSE standards, and international shipping practices.Experience in charter handling and specialized air freight services is a plus.Proficiency in EnglishAs part of our pre-employment screening, we ask you to provide a VOG
