Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the process control design in the pre-study, feasibility, basic engineering, and detailed engineering phase of the project.
  2. Develop or modify process control and safeguarding philosophies/descriptions. Develop relevant logic diagrams.
  3. Participate in project meetings and ensure that the process control design is according to the standards.
  4. Contribute to the project basis of design in all phases.
  5. Collaborate with Automation Contractors to ensure feasibility of the design scope for hardware and software modifications of the automation system.
  6. Facilitate meetings with process engineers to align the scope of process control.
  7. Participate in meetings with E&I design leads to align the scope of automation.
  8. Participate in meetings with HSE engineers to align the scope of process safeguarding.
  9. Participate in meetings with Cybersecurity specialists.
  10. Prepare the process automation engineering deliverable list for the project.
  11. Prepare the project cost estimate for process control and automation scope of work.
  12. Participate in HAZOP and LOPA sessions.
  13. Perform SIL verification calculations.
  14. Prepare standard operating procedures and guidelines for engineering and commissioning activities.
  15. Define the scope of work for the outsourced process automation engineering works.
  16. Supervise outsourced engineering work and check relevant documents and specifications submitted.
  17. Responsible for the quality of the outsourced process automation engineering works.
  18. Provide technical support to maintenance and operations with regards to control loops, related instrumentation, process control, and safety systems (DCS, PLC, and SIS).
  19. Interact and cooperate with other engineering disciplines and specialists like operating personnel, maintenance personnel, plant's HSE personnel, vendors, and contractors' specialists.
  20. Participate in commissioning and plant startup activities.
  21. Responsible for project closure activities related to process automation.
  22. Maintain and contribute professional knowledge related to process control and relevant process controls engineering tools.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Master or Bachelor Degree in Chemical, Process or Automation/Control Engineering.
  2. Minimum 8 years experience in working with EPC/EPCM companies for process control and safety system design, implementation, and verification in refining, petrochemical, or related industry.
  3. VCA-VOL certified.
  4. Experience in OT systems design and engineering.
  5. Experience in reverse engineering projects.
  6. Experience in defining User Requirement Specifications.
  7. Experience in designing and engineering DCS control typicals and HMI typicals.
  8. Experience with DCS, PLC, and Safety Instrumentation Systems.
  9. Knowledge of process dynamics, best engineering practices, and international standards (ISA 5, ISA 95, ISA 15, and ISA 88).
  10. Knowledge of relevant tools like AutoCAD, SmartPlant P&ID or SmartPlant Instrumentation, Ex-SILentia, etc.
  11. Knowledge of project preparation and project reviews.
  12. Willingness to travel to NL site locations depending on project requirements.
  13. Fluency in English and preferably a good command of the Dutch language.
