Mission
As a Product Development / Systems Engineer , you will contribute to the development of next-generation defect inspection systems used in cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing. You will play a central role in defining and optimizing complex instrument subsystems, applying a systems engineering approach across optics, imaging, mechanics, sensors , and software. Your work will directly influence the speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of inspection platforms deployed globally in advanced fabs.
Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Architecture
- Translate marketing and product requirements into detailed technical specifications and system-level architecture.
- Apply systems engineering principles to ensure subsystem integration meets performance, reliability, and scalability goals.
- Lead the development of critical subsystems in collaboration with teams specializing in optics, opto-mechanics, image sensors, motion control, and software .
- Validate and optimize complex hardware interactions impacting inspection resolution, stability, and speed.
Product Innovation & Performance Optimization
Design and implement next-generation enhancements to existing systems and contribute to the architecture of future platforms.Develop and execute experiments and validation protocols to test performance against defined metrics.Deliver design improvements and troubleshooting strategies for field-deployed systems in response to customer feedback or evolving requirements.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with marketing, algorithm development, applications engineering , and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment from concept through deployment.Support knowledge sharing through internal documentation, technical training materials , and best-known-methods.Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to define specifications and manage subsystem development.Customer & Field Support
Investigate complex performance issues at customer sites through remote diagnostics or on-site technical support , providing strategic guidance and system-level expertise.Produce clear, high-level technical reports covering root cause analysis, action plans, and engineering recommendations.Represent engineering in customer-facing discussions when advanced technical communication is needed.Requirements
Education & Experience
Master’s or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Optics , or a related discipline.Proven experience in precision instruments, imaging systems, control systems , or inspection / metrology equipment.Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing environments and yield management systems is highly preferred.Track record of success managing systems across the design, prototyping, integration, and validation lifecycle .Technical Competencies
Strong understanding of image sensors, lasers, optics, opto-mechanics, motion control , and complex system behavior.Proficient in data analysis using tools such as JMP, MATLAB , or Python.Practical programming experience in MATLAB, Python, or Java for system control and data analysis.Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis , lead experiments, and implement design changes based on quantitative insights.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
