Utrecht Life Sciences is looking for a community manager for the Planetary Health Community and Global Health Platform. In this role, you strengthen networks addressing health challenges at the intersection of people, animals and environment.
Dit ga je doen As community manager within Utrecht Life Sciences, you help strengthen and expand a vibrant transdisciplinary network of researchers, educators and societal partners working on planetary and global health. You collaborate with experts connected to Utrecht Life Sciences, Utrecht University and Utrecht Science Park to foster collaboration, facilitate dialogue and support research, education and policy initiatives.
Your tasks include for Planetary Health:
- Organising events, workshops and community meetings within Utrecht Life Sciences and the Planetary Health community
- Developing and implementing a communication strategy
- Creating and coordinating communication materials highlighting research, education and the Utrecht University narrative on planetary health
- Mapping expertise and initiatives related to planetary health across Utrecht University
- Acting as contact person for Planetary Health seed grants
- Supporting collaboration between researchers, educators and external partners
- Working closely with the other community manager and the Utrecht Life Sciences Board to coordinate activities and strengthen the network
Your tasks include for Global Health:
- Membership of the Utrecht University Global Engagement Committee to foster collaboration across strategic themes in research, education and policy
- Organising a limited number of events and meetings for the Global Health community within Utrecht Life Sciences
- Developing and implementing a communication strategy for the platform
- Supporting collaboration between researchers, educators and partners in the Netherlands and abroad
- Working closely with the other community managers, the Utrecht Life Sciences Board and the Global Health team at UMC Utrecht to coordinate activities and strengthen the network
- Strengthening synergies between Planetary Health and Global Health activities within Utrecht Life Sciences

We address pressing challenges such as maternal and child mortality, cardiovascular disease, infectious threats and unequal access to care through interdisciplinary research, innovative education and long-term equitable partnerships.
In close collaboration with UMC Utrecht, Utrecht University’s Global Engagement infrastructure and Utrecht Science Park partners, the Global Health Platform connects strong existing expertise within Utrecht Life Sciences into a visible, coherent and internationally positioned community.
Dit neem je mee We are looking for a proactive candidate who enjoys connecting people and facilitating collaboration in an interdisciplinary environment.
The ideal candidate has:
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English and preferably in Dutch
- An interest in and/or background in planetary health, sustainability, life sciences, global health or related fields
- At least 2–3 years of relevant work experience
- Creativity in developing engaging initiatives and events
- Experience with communication, social media or design (an advantage)
- An existing network within academia and/or civil society relevant to planetary or global health (an advantage)
- The ability to work collaboratively and independently
The intended starting date is between June 1st - July 15th (to be discussed)
