The Role
The Vice President of Client Policy is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing Glass Lewis’s global client policy function. This individual leads a team of policy professionals who are the primary experts on client proxy‑voting policy design, implementation, and ongoing management. The role is highly cross‑functional, intersecting client services, product, research, and commercial, and requires a leader who can operate strategically and hands‑on. It is a permanent, hybrid position based in our Amsterdam office, with regular in‑person attendance three days a week.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience leading teams, ideally in a role combining people management with product, operations, or service delivery.
- Strong track record of partnering with Product/Engineering teams to design and launch tools, workflows, or platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex or technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a global team.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally and influence without direct authority.
- Comfort engaging with senior stakeholders, including clients and internal leadership.
- Background in proxy voting, corporate governance, financial services, or institutional investing is a strong plus, but not required – we will invest in ramping the right person up on the domain.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, develop, and inspire a global team of client policy professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Define team structure, roles, and capacity to support business growth and an evolving service model.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and career development support.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex client policy matters and guide the team through challenging situations with sound judgment.
Product & Technology Partnership
- Partner directly with Product and Technology to design and build tools and workflows that streamline policy design, implementation, and client‑facing insights.
- Act as the voice of the client and the team in product development, translating operational needs into clear requirements and prioritized roadmap input.
- Identify gaps in current tooling and service delivery, and champion initiatives that drive automation, efficiency, and differentiation.
- Bring a builder’s mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, iteration, and driving a roadmap from idea to shipped solution.
Client & Commercial Engagement
- Partner with Sales and Client Services leadership to support retention, renewal, and expansion for key accounts.
- Engage with senior client stakeholders as a trusted advisor, with support from subject‑matter experts on your team as needed.
- Contribute to RFPs, proposals, and prospect conversations alongside the Commercial team.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Research, Operations, Technology, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless service delivery and alignment on strategic priorities.
- Drive the evolution of the overall policy service model in partnership with stakeholders across the business.
