Overview
As a Hardware Engineer in the SmartTag team, you work on development, refinement, and maintenance of our intelligent, low‑power wireless sensors (SmartTags) that collect behavioural data from cows to support automation in the livestock industry. Quality and reliability are paramount.
You will handle new developments, optimise existing products, support production and the Test & Measurement group; manage the entire Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and identify & test alternative components.
Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements, specifications and test criteria.
- Develop, optimise and maintain hardware solutions for SmartTags following the product development process.
- Make informed component choices, investigate alternatives and carry out validation tests with suppliers.
- Analyse test results and support technical issues in production.
- Monitor quality of development processes and products, including reviews and validation tests.
- Ensure product information and technical documentation are correctly recorded in the PLM system.
- Provide support for compliance and qualification tests, ensuring adherence to relevant guidelines and quality requirements.
Team
You will join the multidisciplinary SmartTag team within Livestock, collaborating on development, testing, manufacturing and maintenance from start to finish. You are also part of the broader Hardware Engineers discipline group. We foster a friendly, informal atmosphere.
What We Offer
The salary range is €4,000‑€5,000 gross per month for full‑time employment (38 hrs). Additional benefits include a thirteenth month, a pension scheme, profit sharing, and the possibility to become a shareholder of Nedap. Required Skills
- 3 years’ experience as a Hardware Engineer and a completed higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Experience in designing and developing electronic circuits, reading and drawing schematics, laying out PCBs, and testing products.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
- (Preferred) RF technology, analogue circuits, ultra‑low power, EMC and ESD knowledge.
- (Preferred) Experience with Altium for schematics and PCB layout.
- (Preferred) Affinity for embedded software.
