✍🏼 Join the KLABU team as our creative Writing & Social Media Intern

Who are we?

Hi! We’re KLABU, which means ‘club’ in Swahili. We build clubhouses in refugee settings with the mission to support refugees in finding joy, pride, and hope through sport and community, no matter the circumstances. Each clubhouse is locally led by its own team, with its sports, activities, and timetable. And each has its own unique KLABU sportswear, available to supporters worldwide who want to play their part. Our goal: to build the world’s biggest sports club, where everyone belongs.

We're looking for a Writing & Social Media Intern (based in or near Amsterdam) to join our Storytelling Team, contributing directly to building the club and reframing perspectives on refugees. You'll bring the stories of our clubhouse communities to life, shining light on their lived experiences and the power of sport and community, inspiring people to join KLABU and support our work around the world.

For the right candidate, this role can evolve into a full-time employment contract at KLABU after the internship.

Who are you?

You really enjoy writing.

Whether it's a social media caption, website story, newsletter or campaign text, you know how to tell a story that feels authentic and engaging. You have an excellent command of English and enjoy adapting your writing to different audiences and platforms.

You also understand social media and what makes people stop scrolling. You're organised, curious and eager to learn.

You care about KLABU's mission and believe in the power of sport and community to create a sense of belonging.

What you’ll be doing

Writing sits at the heart of this internship. You will be involved in:

• Working with our content creator teams from the different clubhouses in refugee communities to gather stories and visual content.
• Writing short and long form stories for socials, newsletters, the KLABU website and campaigns.
• Writing scripts for reels and videos, captions, campaign copy, and other communications.
• Writing press releases.

You'll also play an important role in managing KLABU's social media channels. You will be involved in:

• Managing KLABU's social media channels, including planning, scheduling and publishing content.
• Supporting community management across our social channels: responding to DMs, forwarding requests to the KLABU team.
• Monitoring audience engagement and using insights and trends to adapt our content, storytelling, and approach across different platforms.
• Updating content on the KLABU website.

Don't worry if you can't tick every box. Curiosity, initiative and a passion for writing matter most.

Your skills and experience

• Excellent writing skills in English, Dutch and other language skills are a bonus.
• A genuine passion for storytelling.
• Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and potentially Substack.
• Able to adapt your writing style to different audiences.
• Organised and comfortable working in a fast-moving and international environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Photography, design or video editing skills are welcome, but not required.

• Compensation of €210 per month (maximum voluntary work fee). For the right candidate, this role can evolve into a full-time employment contract at KLABU after the internship.
