About The Role

As a Virtualization Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing enterprise virtualization platforms. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex infrastructure issues, ensuring high availability, and maintaining performance across virtualized environments.

Working within Cognizant's infrastructure and cloud services teams, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver stable, scalable, and resilient virtualization platforms that support business-critical workloads.

In This Role, You Will

• 
  
• Resolve host and cluster failures across enterprise virtualization environments.
  
• Troubleshoot and fix high-availability and load-balancing issues, including failed failovers and workload placement problems.
  
• Diagnose CPU, memory, and storage performance bottlenecks affecting virtual machines.
  
• Roll back or remediate platform patches when incidents or instability occur.
  
• Investigate and resolve storage connectivity issues affecting virtualized workloads.
  
• Monitor and enforce capacity limits and resource allocation across clusters and resource pools.
  
• Define and implement minimal operations agreements for degraded or failure scenarios.
  
• Ensure platform stability, resilience, and adherence to operational best practices.
  
• Collaborate with storage, network, and cloud teams to resolve cross-domain infrastructure issues.
  

What You Need to Have to Be Considered

• 
  
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise virtualization environments.
  
• Strong expertise in enterprise virtualization platform administration, including high availability, load balancing, and live migration.
  
• Hands-on experience with clustering and workload migration across virtualization platforms.
  
• Proficiency with performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  
• Solid understanding of storage technologies used in virtualized environments, including shared and networked storage.
  
• Experience with scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
  
• Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues under pressure.
  
• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure dependencies across compute, storage, and networking.
  

These Will Help You Stand Out

• 
  
• Experience working in large-scale, multi-cluster enterprise environments.
  
• Exposure to hybrid cloud or cloud-integrated virtualization platforms.
  
• Familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  
• Experience in incident management and root cause analysis (RCA) in production environments.
  
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management frameworks.
