The opportunity
Risk Consulting is central to supporting the success of Intact Insurance Europe which provides insurance and risk management solutions to large corporate customers across Belgium & Netherlands and around the world.
At the heart of our offering is a dedicated team of Risk Engineering Consultants across UK & Europe who work in partnership with customers and the Underwriting and Claims teams at Intact Insurance Europe across a wide range of commercial and industrial facilities to identify risks and propose pragmatic risk management solutions.
In line with our ambition to continually improve our risk management offering and achieve ‘Best in Class’ status, we are looking to strengthen our team in the Netherlands with the appointment of one Risk Engineering Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated individual looking to develop her/his existing skills and experience in loss prevention. To support the retention and winning of new businesses, this role involves managing and delivering efficient and effective risk management and loss prevention services across all sectors.
As a member of our in-house team the successful candidate will work closely with risk management partners, Underwriting and Claims teams and Risk Consulting colleagues to help shape and deliver the Risk Consulting proposition.
The role typically involved undertaking risk surveys at customers’ sites, including writing up reports, account management of our larger clients and providing other risk management support to underwriters and customers.
This role would suit an individual with good analytical, relationship management and communication skills, as well as strong capability in one or more of our core technical disciplines of property loss prevention.
This is a home-based role with sporadic office attendance, routine travel throughout BENE, and occasional international travel; however, in the first months, regular attendance will be required at our office in the Netherlands (Rotterdam).
Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking detailed risk assessments at customer locations and conducting account/ prospect reviews to help secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite and to minimise future claims.
- Providing close technical risk management support to underwriters with risk selection and the maintenance of technical underwriting practices.
- Supporting underwriters and other internal stakeholders in promoting the Intact Risk Management proposition to customers and brokers. This includes being able to articulate at senior level, in areas of the proposition outside of the consultant’s own areas of expertise.
- Contributing to the development of Intact Risk Management propositions by bringing knowledge and insight of customers and risks and applying this within business objectives.
- Managing customer interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner in order to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction.
- Providing technical advice, guidance and coaching to colleagues to develop knowledge and understanding of customers and their businesses, as well as associated commercial drivers and risks.
The expertise you bring
- Previous experience of working within an engineering/risk management field either in industry or financial services or property risk engineering background including fire protection and suppression systems and relevant standards.
- Degree in Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent technical qualifications and relevant professional experience and risk control knowledge.
- Displays energy and enthusiasm, pushing themselves and others to raise the bar.
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders and explain relevant information clearly and concisely to influence positive change.
- Pragmatic, solutions orientated individual who is confident in making decisions where there may not be an obvious answer.
- Is highly self-motivated, disciplined and well organised, able to remain focused on priorities when dealing with conflicting demands.
- Experience of working within a customer-facing environment.
- Open minded team player.
- IT skills to include Microsoft Office and risk management database reporting systems.
- A full driving licence is a prerequisite for the role.
- Language: Dutch and English at a fluent level.
