The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a senior BIM Director to lead BIM strategy and digital delivery on major commercial and utility building projects in the Netherlands. Due to increasing project scale and early-phase digitalisation demands, this role is critical in setting up, governing, and scaling BIM workflows from design through construction.

You will take ownership of BIM at a strategic level, guiding multidisciplinary teams and ensuring high-quality digital coordination across large, complex projects. This is a leadership-focused role with strong influence on project outcomes, rather than a pure production position.

What Does the Position Entail?

As BIM Director, you will be responsible for defining and managing BIM processes during early design and execution phases. You will work closely with internal project teams and stakeholders to ensure effective digital collaboration as projects scale rapidly.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading BIM strategy and digital workflows during early-stage design and digitisation.
• Managing and coordinating BIM activities on large-scale construction projects.
• Overseeing model quality, coordination, and compliance across disciplines.
• Using BIM tools to identify risks, clashes, and coordination issues early.
• Supporting the growth of the BIM team from an initial group of ~20 people to 100+ as site activities ramp up.
• Acting as the primary BIM point of contact for project teams and stakeholders.
• Supporting and mentoring BIM coordinators and digital engineering staff.
• Adapting to and learning internal BIM systems and tools (training provided where required).

Depending on project load, additional BIM coordination resources may be added to support you.

Your Profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the construction industry.
• Proven experience working on large, complex construction projects.
• Strong background in BIM leadership or management roles.
• Experience in early design phases and digital workflows is a strong advantage.
• Able to lead, coordinate, and scale BIM teams effectively.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced project environments with evolving requirements.
• Fluent Dutch is mandatory, as construction sites operate in Dutch.

Technical Skills

Mandatory / Preferred:

• Revit Architecture (primary tool)
• Solibri (model checking)

Preferred (can be learned if needed):

• Autodesk Navisworks

Nice to have:

• Programming skills (e.g. C#)
• Ability and willingness to learn additional digital tools and internal systems
