Consultant - Supply Chain Management

Overview

Our Operations Excellence Program (OEP) is a two-year consulting program. You will work on client engagements with hands-on problem solving, including identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing and conducting analyses, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations. The program combines on-the-job coaching with a structured capability-building curriculum to develop leading-edge operations and consultancy skills.

You will be based in one of our European offices as part of the Operations Practice. McKinsey’s Supply Chain Management service line is part of the Operations Practice and focuses on future-oriented logistics strategies to improve customer service while reducing invested capital and costs by transforming and optimizing supply chains end to end.

Your Impact

As a consultant in the two-year Operations Excellence Program, you will work on client engagements in the same way as other McKinsey consultants. You will play an active role in problem solving for clients, including identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing and conducting analyses, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations. You will gain advanced operations and consultancy skills primarily through on-the-job coaching, complemented by the OEP’s structured capability-building program. Upon completion of the program, successful consultants join a global group of leading experts in operational excellence.

You will dedicate many days to functional training and knowledge development under the leadership of our operations experts, following a curriculum based on operations excellence themes and receiving advanced training in one of six areas : manufacturing, product development, purchasing, service operations, supply chain management, or capital excellence. You will be involved with a wide range of client engagements and collaborate with colleagues across industries and service lines.

Your Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree and exceptional academics required
• Initial experience in supply chain management (e.g., design and implementation of logistics strategy, network design and optimization, transportation, warehouse design and optimization, supply chain planning and management processes, supply chain modeling and optimization)
• Proven record of leadership in a work setting and / or through extracurricular activities
• Mobility and enthusiasm for taking on European assignments during the work week
• Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and local office language
