An attractive opportunity for Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to be part of a fast-growing specialist engineering provider based in the Hague.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the civil/structural engineering scope for petrochemical, oil & gas, and /or other industry projects from feasibility and FEED stages through detailed design and construction.
- Develop and review engineering documentation including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports for civil infrastructure elements such as:
- -Plant roads (layout, cross sections, and pavement design)
- -Rough and finish grading plans
- -Surface water drainage systems
- -Underground utilities (stormwater sewers, potentially contaminated and oily water sewers, water supply, cable trenches, etc.)
- Develop and review engineering documentation including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports for steel and concrete elements including foundations.
- Act as lead engineer in proposal preparation for tenders.
- Perform and review sewer hydraulic calculations and sewer flow analyses using manual methods and software tools for storm water and potentially contaminated and oily water sewers.
- Design underground pits for applied loads and expected inflows.
- Develop and review Underground Composite Plans including piping, electrical and instrument trenches, foundations and any other below ground elements.
- Coordinate and integrate civil/structural design requirements with mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
- Participate in the development of the site plot plan, ensuring civil design interfaces are correctly addressed.
- Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications, material take-offs (MTO), requisitions, and technical bid analysis/evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with local and international design codes & regulatory standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for technical issues related to civil/structural engineering with internal stakeholders, clients, and subcontractors.
- Monitor and report engineering progress and ensure deliverables meet schedule, quality, and cost requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to maintaining and developing engineering standards, procedures, and work instructions.
- Contribute to project planning, manhour estimations, and execution strategy development.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard studies, and constructability assessments.
- Interface and coordinate with multiple offices and external partners in a multi-office execution environment.
Your Profile
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication with teams and stakeholders.
- Good knowledge and understanding of detailing practices and skilled in drawing checking for structural steel, concrete and foundations.
- Proven experience in grading design, drainage, road layout, underground utility coordination, and site development.
- Experienced in Onshore Oil and Gas industry, Petro-Chemical Plants or similar.
- Conversant with International Engineering Design Codes and Standards for Civil & Structural such as Eurocodes, British and American.
- Competence in civil/structural engineering software such as STAAD-Pro, SAP2000. Proficiency in Civil 3D is an added advantage.
- Proficient in the use of plant design Review Software such as Navisworks, Smart Plant Review (SPR), and AVEVA E3D will be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of drafting software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Strong project coordination skills and ability to manage inputs from multiple engineering disciplines.
- Proficient in MS Office and general project management tools.
- Education: At least a Bachelor’s / HBO in Civil and Structural Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years in the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, fertilizer, or related industries, including at least 5 years in a senior or lead role.
- Extensive experience in FEED and EPC projects, including greenfield developments, brownfield modifications, and revamp projects.
- Confident advisor with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
