With projects worldwide and a fleet of 600 vessels and equipment Boskalis has a lot to offer you as a software developer in the field of technical software and this role you will primarily work on software used by hydrographic surveyors. These surveyors work for all divisions within Boskalis : dredging & inland infrastructure offshore energy towage and salvage. This means you will encounter a wide range of software-related issues.

Your responsibilities as software developer

Based on the needs of the Survey department youll identify the software that needs to be developed. Youll inventory and analyze the required functionality and then be responsible for designing building testing and documenting the software.

The software solutions are often state-of-the-art and require you to have a good understanding of data processing and visualization. A certain level of mathematical knowledge will also be useful in this role. Whether its existing or newly developed technology youre up to the task. Developments are moving rapidly and Boskalis is eager to innovate so we expect you to be flexible and up-to-date on the latest trends in technical software development.

Your qualities and experience

You can move ahead as a software developer if you have :

• A Bachelors degree in technology or computer science.
• Preferably 5-10 years of relevant work experience in a similar role where you independently developed (technical) software.
• Knowledge of applied development methods languages and tools such as Linux and C. - Demonstrable experience with object-oriented information analysis software design development and documentation.
• Excellent command of both Dutch and English.
• Good communication skills.
• Comfortable working abroad for short periods.

Knowledge and experience with one or more of the following is a plus :

You communicate effortlessly at various levels and are capable of thinking outside the box. Working under pressure is no problem for you; the software you develop is often crucial for delivering survey data on time making it essential to ensure this process runs smoothly and quickly.
