Argent Energy, a European producer of sustainable second-generation biodiesel, is undergoing an exciting expansion at the Port of Amsterdam as part of the company's vision to decarbonise transport worldwide. With production capacity soon to triple, we are expanding our Operations team and seeking a new Production Manager to join us.

About the job

We’re seeking a driven and experienced Production Manager to lead operations at our newly expanded, state-of-the-art biodiesel facility (BDA II) in Amsterdam. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a brand-new continuous process plant. You will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient and reliable production. The role involves ensuring the department meets its operational output targets and KPIs, while maintaining high standards of safety, environmental performance, quality and efficiency, all in support of our mission to decarbonise transport

The plant operates 24 / 7 in five shifts. Each shift team consists of a Shift Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, Allround Operator, and Field Operator. You will lead the operational teams and work closely with support staff including Process Chemists and Technical Innovation Specialists to ensure smooth, optimised performance.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

Ensure production targets and KPIs are consistently met while upholding high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and product quality.

Translate company strategy into departmental objectives and ensure effective implementation across the production team.

Lead operational planning and execution, using data and SWOT analysis to identify and implement efficiency and reliability improvements.

Ensures operating guidelines and changes to procedures across all shift teams with input from Technical innovation manager, Performance Manager, Maintenance and Team Leaders.

Is responsible for the Turnaround scope definition and supports the execution of unit Turnaround activities.

Supporting Plant Change Request (MOC) processes

Operations Input to Major Project’s Definition

Work to develop training packages and train teams.

Provides production input for the Sales and operations planning process.

Focal point within the asset management team for the daily operational assurance, identifying and acting on blockers to delivering the Site Plan.

Act as deputy for the Performance Manager when required.

About You

To be successful in this position you should recognize yourself in the following points :

HBO+ (technical Bsc.) or equivalent experienced through acquired competencies

Minimum 10 years of experience in the chemical or refining industry in a similar position running a full continuous production process is a must.

Experience in the production of Biofuel would be an advantage.

Technical skills required

Process technology and operational management of a (chemical) plant.

Complex process installations and control systems (PCS).

Internal work and safety procedure, incl. Permit to Work, MOC, RCA’s

Experience with commissioning new installations and process components.

Behavioural skills required

Situational leadership.

Flexible and stress resistant.

Production-oriented and pragmatic.

Able to work independently and systematically.

Ability to build a professional organization.

Must be able to act in case of calamities.
